World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Item upgrades can be used to improve the stats of a particular item. Depending on the type of upgrade you choose, it can boost the rarity of an item or mark Level, and also boost other stats.
Each item comes with a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next item by a specified amount.
Item Level
The value of an item's basic stats increases as it is upgraded. This value is the total of all its leveled up benefits (attack magic attack, attack defense). Upgrading items can be expensive dependent on the upgrader and the type of upgrade you choose to perform. This is due to the sheer number of perks that need to be altered to upgrade an item.
Item level is a commonly used measurement of power and can be seen on all tooltips of items. It also serves to limit the amount of PvP gear players can use, since PvP is limited at a lower level. The average item level can be found on the character sheet.
When deciding whether to buy or sell equipment players can look at the item level. It's a measure of the item's condition and quality. The item level can also be used to compare items when examining the inventory of a vendor.
The level of the item can be checked by pressing the ALT key on your PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the full description of the item, as well as its level. It can also be found by hovering over an item using the mouse cursor and entering /itemlevel into chat.
There are a variety of theories on the method by which the level of an item is calculated. One theory is that the item level is a numerical value derived from a formula that calculates the amount an item's stats are worth. It takes into account the fact that different perks have different worth and that sockets have gems that increase the value of the item overall. This process could result in a calculated value for the item's ilvl, which is usually quite close to the actual Blizzard level of the item.

Item Stats

At present, all affixes can be rerolled by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button with circling arrows. It will cost a set amount in gold and other items. They can also be used as upgrade gauges as with other methods of rerolling.
In addition to Rerolling affixes and rerolls, players can select which of the available stats they want to keep on an item when it is upgraded. The range of stats is determined by the item's level. However each item will have at least one stat within the range, unless they are an item that is unique or a God Roll from a raid boss.
Another thing that could change is the possibility of upgrading equipment without having to reroll the attachments, or pick which stats to enhance. However, as with the base equipment, this would have to be done on a per-item basis, and the interface for item comparison wouldn't show all possible stats either lost or gained at the same time.
Item Luck
The Luck stat of a player can increase the likelihood of locating items and the properties that are created by loot and the intensity of these properties. However, it does not directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It simply gives players the chance to acquire better equipment earlier in the game and is thus more beneficial in the early game as opposed to later ones, since most players prefer higher weapon scaling and defenses over the raw damage gain.
In addition to influencing item discovery, Luck also increases the chances of being successful when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This is not to confuse with the Blacksmith’s overall chances of upgrading, which increase with each new level of item. It is also possible to be increased by using anti-materials like the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.
The shields, armor, and weapons have a default Luck value of 40. These items can be improved with golden ingots, or spined leather (depending on their material type) to increase the value of 40 luck or to boost an item's existing Luck up to 140.
Furthermore some items, like the Hollow weapon, which is infused with Hollow can be outfitted to increase the damage of any damage-dealing skill by five percent. These items can be found in the shop or crafted with the right ingredients.
Item Failure
Not all upgrades work. Cash shop items can be used to increase the chances of success for an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their items if it is not successful.
The rate of success of an upgrade can be seen in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of completing the upgrade successfully, and can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations to how much success rates can be increased and the chance of an upgrade failing can't be greater than 100%..
The success of an upgrade is also affected by the luck of the item. All items have an average success rate of 25% and every item with Luck increases that chance by an additional 5percent.
item upgrader is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the inventory items therefore enchantment glints and other effects can be obstructed by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
